Here is a quick update on the past two months at MCFR, as so much has happened in such a short period of time. We’ve pulled in four new Subway restaurants, Ryan’s Steakhouse, two McAlister’s Deli locations and our fourth Little Caesars. In the month of September we rescued 7,798.25 lbs. In October we rescued 21,016.7 lbs. God just continues to bless us beyond our wildest dreams, and we can’t wait to see what November and December will hold. Thanks again for all the prayers and support!
Recently I listened to a vice principal from one of the schools in the area talk about how real poverty and hunger is prevalent in this community. This person explained how real it is, and how when you pull a child in and start talking to them, many of them live in households where their only meals come from the free breakfast and lunch they receive at school. This vice principal explained how disheartening it was to hear this from such young kids, who can’t change the situation they’re currently in!
It seems more and more people are talking about the reality of hunger in our nation and especially here in our county. I don’t want anyone to feel like we beat a dead horse with this issue but it‘s one that’s real and is very pressing. When administrators are discussing how bad it has become you know it’s real! It makes us thankful to the restaurants that partner with us currently to help provide weekly meals to families and shelters. We appreciate everything that’s given to us and feel honored that more and more restaurants continue to give to us and partner with us. God is doing big things through this organization and we can’t wait to see where He takes all of us in the next few months!
