This past weekend we were beyond blessed by the amount of presents donated to the people of Morgan County through Fill the Truck. There were two stories that really touched us and we wanted to share them with all of you.
The first story is about a woman who was not really in a place to give but made a sacrifice to purchase a Barbie Doll so some little girl would have something to open on Christmas morning. She walked out of Wal-Mart and handed it over getting a little choked up in the process, then turned around and went back into the store, resurfacing with a $20 dollar bill saying she hoped it would help buy more presents. One of the volunteers walked after the woman to thank her again. She was bawling at this point and said that she herself had been blessed by one of the organizations we were donating to and just wanted to say thank you by donating what little she had. This woman demonstrated a true attitude of sacrificial giving and reminded us of the passage in Mark 12:41-44. She gave all she had to help some child have a wonderful Christmas this year.
The second story comes from a woman who had lived at Wellspring with her husband years ago. They were newly married and having trouble making ends meet so they went there to try and get back on their feet. Wellspring helped them find jobs and an apartment so they could once again be fully independent. When this lady saw the back of the flyer that we were giving to them she immediately went in and purchased some gifts. She walked back out and told our volunteers about what a blessing Wellspring had been and how this was a way she could say thanks to them for helping her family many years ago.
God is truly working in this community. We hope that the next two weekends of Fill a Truck will be filled with more wonderful stories and people willing to give a little to bless many. If you wish to volunteer you can find the link on our Facebook page, or if you would like to donate a toy we will be there the next two weekends, Friday through Sunday.
